We’ve been delivering survival, health & safety, fire, marine and emergency management training to the global oil and gas industry for four decades. Our instructors are some of the most experienced and knowledgeable in the industry. Between them they have over 150 years’ on-the-ground training experience.
Many of our team have been involved in the development of the industry training standards which are used today and are closely involved with the evolution of Petrofac Training Services from its origins as the Robert Gordon Institute of Technology (RGIT) in the 1970s.
You can see more about our heritage and how this history feeds into the quality of our training services, below.
The Montrose Fire Training Centre opens its doors – the first of its kind in the world and a milestone for specialised offshore fire training standards. The centre is later acquired by RGIT in 2000.
Petrofac acquires Rubicon Response and RGIT Montrose, including all training facilities. This leads to the creation of Petrofac Training Services and expands our service offering to include competence and technical training and emergency response capability.
We celebrate 40 years of the Montrose Fire Training Centre. The centre was the first of its kind when it opened in 1978, and remains a leader in its field.
