The Digital BOSIET offers a flexible, digital approach to the initial offshore safety and emergency response training requirements for personnel new (or returning) to the offshore oil and gas industry. Delegates complete the theoretical elements of the BOSIET programme via eLearning anywhere, anytime before attending a one-day practical session at our OPITO-approved training centre to be formally assessed against all learning outcomes. This course is also referred to as ‘offshore survival’ or ‘RGIT’.
Delegates will complete the underpinning knowledge for all learning outcomes via eLearning prior to attending the training centre to complete formal assessment against all learning outcomes and practical sessions. The duration of the E Learning is approx 8 hours.
The syllabus focuses on: • Basic safety induction • Compressed Air Emergency Breathing Systems (CA-EBS) • Firefighting and self-rescue • Helicopter safety and escape • Sea survival • Survival first aid
Delegates must be at least 16 years of age and have completed all online elements contained in the BOSIET (with CA-EBS) on line programme not more than 60 days prior to undertaking the practical assessment at the training centre.
All personnel employed on an offshore installation or looking to work offshore in the UKCS.
An OPITO approved BOSIET with Compressed Air EBS Digital Delivery certificate will be issued on successful completion of the course.
The Digital BOSIET is valid for four years. Prior to expiry, delegates must complete the Further Offshore Emergency Training (FOET) course to remain certified.
Held at Petrofac Training Services, Altens, Aberdeen.
All delegates must bring swimwear and a towel. Delegates must present photographic ID at the start of the course. Accepted forms are government issued photographic identification, e.g. passport or driving licence.
All delegates participating in shallow water CA-EBS exercises must either be in possession of an Oil and Gas UK (OGUK) offshore medical certificate (or equivalent recognised by the HSE) and a Certificate of Fitness to Undertake Shallow Water CA-EBS Training issued by an OGUK registered doctor or possess a valid and current HSE diver medical certificate. Delegates that have a Certificate of Fitness to Undertake Shallow Water Training that states they have been deemed unfit to train by an OGUK doctor will not be required to undertake shallow water CA-EBS exercises. Delegates will also be asked to complete a medical questionnaire prior to course commencement and prior to participating in in-water CA-EBS exercises.
