Petrofac delivers bespoke training course for Cape
Petrofac Training Services has successfully delivered an integrated rope access fireproofing training course to leading critical industrial services provider, Cape.
By combining both industry standard and vendor-specific training, Petrofac created a bespoke course for Cape, ahead of it undertaking a rope access fireproofing application project for one of the North Sea’s most recent field developments.
Petrofac collaborated with coatings specialist International Paint (International) to develop a consolidated course tailored to Cape’s requirements. The four-day course combined OPITO approved fireproofing training with International’s Chartek 7E fireproofing application training, as well as practical exercises on Petrofac’s helideck training module.
By adopting this integrated approach Petrofac reduced the total training time by almost two days per course, allowing 49 Cape personnel to complete the training within a compacted timeframe. In addition, Cape’s ability to deliver its fireproofing via rope access instead of scaffolding reduced the total man hours required to complete their project, resulting in additional time and cost savings.
Graham George, Fabric Maintenance Team Lead, Petrofac Training Services, said: “We are always looking for new ways to assist our clients with their training requirements. By reducing the cost and time constraints normally associated with a fireproofing project, we were able to deliver significant added value in this challenging, cost-focused market.
“This programme was the first of its kind, so many lessons were shared amongst the different training groups, ensuring that the highest standards of health and safety were achieved during the training and offshore.”
