Petrofac dives into marine training milestone

Our Training Services team celebrated the 3,000th launch of our industry-leading freefall lifeboat last week.

The system, used on ships and offshore installations around the world, uses gravity to propel the lifeboat into the sea and clear of any danger during an emergency.

The Verhoef lifeboat model was first launched at our Marine Training Centre nine years ago and is the only freefall system approved for oil and gas training in the UK.

George Masson, Safety and Survival Team Lead, commented: “We are all exceptionally proud to have reached this momentous milestone, which remains a key differentiator for us as a training provider. We temporarily suspended physical training just after this, in support of the UK Government’s Covid-19 guidance, but we look forward to welcoming our Lifeboat Coxswain Freefall students back at the right time.”
