STV reporters take the plunge with Petrofac Training

STV Interview

In late February STV reporters Zara Janjua and George Ward sat their Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET), to make a feature for STV2’s daily magazine show, Live at Five.

The duo, who will front the STV Aberdeen channel when it launches in April this year, took part in the training to give the rest of the country insight into the rigors involved with going offshore.

Alister Newlands, an instructor at our Altens facility, made sure they satisfied all elements of the course while capturing their experiences on film.

Alister commented: “I had a great time and was struck with how interested they were in why we do what we do. They threw themselves into every task with enthusiasm and were keen to get under the skin of the oil and gas world. It was just the three of us for much of the time so we built a great relationship. I’m glad Petrofac was so open to the opportunity and hope to do more with STV in the future.”

Both reporters left as happy customers with a new found appreciation for safety and a few new friends.

Zara Janjua commented: “Every element of the course was spot on. Alister was full of enthusiasm and made the course enjoyable and easy to follow. He was methodical, knowledgeable and engaging. I loved the underwater helicopter escape and felt at ease knowing we were well looked after. George and I have had a lot of fun. Ali and the other instructors we met are a credit to Petrofac.”

The feature will be broadcast over the coming weeks on the central belt STV channels, and then again on the Aberdeen channel when it launches in April.
